Trevor O. Sylvester

Trevor O. Sylvester is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Sylvester Engineering Ltd., and has served as the firm’s Principal Engineer and Project Manager since its inception over three decades ago. With more than 40 years of professional experience, he is widely recognised as a leader in power systems engineering, instrumentation and control, renewable energy systems, and complex project delivery across the Caribbean, Africa, and North America.
Mr. Sylvester holds advanced academic qualifications in mathematics, physics, and electrical engineering from The University of the West Indies and the University of Toronto. He is a Chartered Engineer (UK), a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), a Professional Engineer in Canada, and a registered member of the Board of Engineering of Trinidad and Tobago, among several international professional bodies.
Throughout his career, he has led the engineering design, construction supervision, commissioning, and operational oversight of major power generation facilities, petrochemical plants, oil and gas infrastructure, microgrids, and large-scale renewable energy projects. His expertise spans high and medium-voltage systems, control and SCADA systems, risk management, business continuity planning, and engineering economics. He is also frequently engaged as an expert advisor and witness in complex technical and commercial disputes.
Under his leadership, Sylvester Engineering Ltd. has delivered projects for major multinational corporations, governments, utilities, and international development agencies, earning a reputation for technical excellence, integrity, and practical, owner-focused solutions. Mr. Sylvester remains actively involved in all major assignments, providing strategic direction and hands-on technical leadership to ensure the successful delivery of every project undertaken by the firm.
